NAVIGATION DATA DISTRIBUTION UNIT

The Navigation Data Distribution Unit (NDDU), completely MILSPEC compliant, is the main unit of the navigation system: it receives data from navigation sensors (heading, roll, pitch, speed, time, etc) and, after data processing, it distributes them to the users (combat system, weapon control system, repeaters, etc) in the required format (digital, synchro, analogue etc).

NAVIGATION SENSOR INTERFACE:

  • Gyrocompasses (main and backup)
  • Speed Log
  • Echosounder
  • Meteorological system
  • GPS/DGPS
  • Magnetic compass

MAIN FUNCTION:

  • Select the best sensor according to a priority table (ex. main gyro, back-up gyro, GPS)
  • Check the presence and correctness of the data.
  • Process data and make them available in output for the users in the proper formats.

Different versions of NDDU are available: for small ships (Patrol boats), for large ones (Aircraft carriers, frigates, Destroyers, etc.) and a digital version particularly used in new constructions.
The use of a full solid state technology allows a high re-configurability and reliability of the system.
